Specification & Compliance
Every speaker cut-out in a fire-rated ceiling breaches the protection that ceiling is there to provide. Under Approved Document B of the UK Building Regulations, the responsibility for maintaining that protection sits with the installer. The Firetopper Pro II is a triple-layer intumescent hood that fits over the speaker and helps seal the ceiling penetration, without compromising the speaker's performance.
Independently fire-tested
The Firetopper Pro II has been independently fire-tested by Warringtonfire (Report 503071/LR), utilising the general principles of BS EN 1363-1:2020, the European fire-resistance test method for building elements. The hood was tested in a representative UK domestic build-up — a timber joist floor with a two-layer Gyproc FireLine plasterboard ceiling — where it maintained integrity past 90 minutes of fire exposure before the test was concluded.
Full test documentation is available to trade accounts on request.
Acoustic and thermal performance
A central layer of fire-retardant acoustic foam between two intumescent skins reduces sound leakage into the room above. The same construction acts as a thermal barrier, reducing heat loss into the ceiling cavity.
